How long have you been with PN?

I started with PN as a Business Trainee with the focus in HR back in March 2013 and have been with the business since.

What is your role currently?

Since my traineeship I have been able to develop further my career in HR with Pacific National and am currently a HR Coordinator. This is a diverse role where I have many different tasks and responsibilities. Every day I find myself learning something new, and this is what makes it exciting and rewarding for me – there is so much room for personal growth and development within the business!

What do you like about working for PN?

I have to say that the people make this organisation a great place to work. I have fantastic colleagues, who are very supportive. I enjoy meeting new people within the business and learning about various facets of our operations. Pacific National has provided me with many interesting opportunities to grow and develop my skills and been very supportive of my external university studies.

What advice would you give to young job-seekers?

Don’t be afraid to give it ‘a go’ and explore various pathways and opportunities. Take the time to do your research and consider your options – speak to the Career Advisors, people whose careers are of interest to you, go online for inspiration and don’t limit yourself to anything! In particular for women, the rail and logistics industry is not often front of mind, but there is so much to it that is appealing and exciting! From my personal experience I can say that it is a very dynamic industry and I’ve constantly been surprised by how many moving parts, jobs and roles are involved to make it a success!
